In line with the Council’s mandate to promote sustainable industrial development and the efficient utilization of Nigeria’s raw materials, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) implemented a capacity-building workshop on innovative strategies for hazardous materials management and resource recovery.
The project focused on enhancing participants’ technical competencies in the safe identification, transportation, storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials, while introducing approaches for extracting valuable materials or energy from waste streams. These strategies aim to minimize environmental impact, promote sustainability, and contribute to the circular economy, thereby reducing dependence on primary raw materials.
The initiative strengthened the Council’s role in fostering environmentally responsible industrial practices and supporting next-generation waste management systems within Nigeria’s industrial and research sectors.
