DEVELOPMENT OF ALKYD RESIN

Sequel to increasing demand for paints in the country, experts have projected a 5% growth rate which will translate to an expenditure of 135.8 billion Naira by 2025. In view of this, the Council developed Alkyd

Resin using Rubber Seed Oil (RSO) for paint formulation.  The resin has undergone industrial test for production of dark coloured paints.  Further development of the resin for use in brightly coloured paints has been completed.  Establishment of a pilot plant is being worked upon. This would grow the paint and rubber industry and create more job opportunities in the country, while providing the platform to convert the environmental waste material to wealth.
