DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND ICT CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMME

Project Overview

The Digital Transformation and ICT Capacity Enhancement Programme is a strategic initiative by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) to strengthen digital infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency, and improve ICT skills in support of the Council’s mandate. This programme directly supports RMRDC’s core objectives of promoting research and development, facilitating technology adoption, and enabling efficient management of industrial raw materials information.

The programme integrates three interrelated components — Network and Internet Services, Hardware Deployment, and ICT Capacity Building — designed to modernize the Council’s digital ecosystem and improve productivity across Headquarters and the 36 State Coordinating Offices.

1. Network and Internet Services

Reliable connectivity has been established to enable seamless communication, data exchange, and access to online research resources. Modern networking equipment, including core switches, routers, and network distribution devices, were deployed to ensure secure, fast, and stable digital operations across all Council offices.

This component supports RMRDC’s mandate by facilitating real-time access to research data, raw materials databases, and digital collaboration between state offices and headquarters.

2. Hardware Deployment and Maintenance

The Council procured and deployed desktop computers, laptops, printers, and scanners to staff at all locations, ensuring that digital tools necessary for research, reporting, and industrial advisory services are readily available. Ongoing maintenance ensures these tools remain functional, supporting data-driven decision-making, project monitoring, and research dissemination in line with RMRDC’s objectives.

3. ICT Capacity Building

RMRDC upgraded its ICT training facilities with modern computers, ergonomic workstations, and interactive teaching systems. Staff have received training in:

  • Office productivity software

  • Networking and IT support

  • Emerging digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI)

These activities enhance staff capabilities to collect, manage, analyze, and share raw materials and industrial research data, reinforcing the Council’s mandate to promote innovation, technology adoption, and local industrial development.
